We was initially approached by The Waterside Gallery to help print the work of Photographer Roxana Allison for a solo exhibition of her body of work titled Hope. Despair. Miracles.
Hatter Editions and Roxana worked collaboratively to get the right paper. In the end the decision was made to print on Metallic Lustre Photographic Paper. The choice did not disappoint; It really harmonised with Roxana's aesthetic and produced work that was super crisp. The warm base of the paper helped make the work feel intimate and personal. Roxana also wanted mixed sizes of Photo-Tex prints to create a visually layered effect (and who doesn't love a good print on Photo-Tex?).
The photographic prints were going into frames supplied by Roxana. Some were new and others had been used previously- The decision was that we would archivally dry mount all the prints onto a backing board for rigidity and longevity.
We sent everything to press after making all the corrections and getting the go ahead from Roxana. When everything was off the printer, mounted and ready to be put in the frames, we hit a snag... Some of the older frames had very strong ghosting on the glass! We tried cleaning the glass and it was not budging. A very panicky moment indeed. We brought out the industrial strength glass cleaner and it took that three or four passes to get them clean. But it worked, the glass glistened and it was delivered with time to spare.
